Domaine Germain Pere & Fils Saint-Romain La Periere 2022
Saint-Romain is a village often overlooked in Burgundy, yet Domaine Germain Père & Fils consistently proves its quality. The 2022 La Périère comes from hand-harvested grapes and is aged 100% in Allier oak barrels, a third of which are new. The result is a wine that combines the estate’s characteristic finesse with a vibrant, approachable personality, reflecting both the freshness of Saint-Romain and the precision of the domaine’s modern cellar.
Taste
Bright and fragrant on the nose, La Périère reveals red berries and delicate floral hints. The palate is silky and velvety, with fresh, elegant tannins that are seamlessly integrated. Vibrant yet refined, it balances finesse with energy, drinking beautifully now while retaining the structure to develop gracefully over the next several years.
About the Producer
Established in 1955, Domaine Germain Père & Fils is a family estate now led by Arnaud Germain, representing the third generation at the helm. The domaine farms around 10 hectares of vineyards in Saint-Romain, with additional plots in Pommard and Beaune, producing wines that beautifully capture the character of each site. In 2019, a new state-of-the-art winery was completed at the top of the village, allowing even greater precision from harvest to bottling. The result is a range of wines that balance purity, texture and energy — modern in approach yet true to their Burgundian roots.
