Chateau Les Vimieres Haut-Medoc 2021
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. Another star of our great value Bordeaux wine list, the Chateau les Vimieres 2021 was awarded 92 points by Wine Enthusiast. The tiny (0.45-hectare) estate is home to seventy-year-old vines that produce minuscule quantities of super-concentrated grapes. Created by Eric Boissenot, consultant to Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite in the challenging 2021 vintage, it’s rich, velvety, loaded with black fruits and supported by a fine structure. An awful lot of wine for the money, this is your chance to try a superstar wine at a down-to-earth price.

Wine Press Ratings
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2021)
"Owned by top wine consultants, the Boissenot family, this ripely dense wine with its open red-berry aromas is well rounded. While its black-currant fruits are well to the fore, it has a core of firm tannins from Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is worth aging. "
97 Points / Platinum Medal - Decanter International World Wine Awards (2020)
"Enticing aromas of ripe black cherries, dark chocolate and espresso, with hints of roasted meats. An excellent intensity of mouth-filling black fruits, with generous oak displaying vanilla sweetness and a backbone of plush melting tannins. Long and energising."
92 Points - Decanter (2019)
"A cult wine in the Haut-Médoc because it is owned and made by Eric Boissenot, one of Bordeaux's leading wine consultants. Great quality, this is unfussy and balanced, while still being full of concentrated, well-extracted blackberry and blueberry fruits. A firm wall of tannins with enough flexibility to be a medium term drinker. Enjoyable."
About the Producer
Since 1984 Château Les Vimières has been a family run vineyard and is the personal property of the Boissenot family. Jacques Boissenot always kept a low profile, which is amazing considering that he consulted for four of the first growths of Bordeaux over a 50 year period! The property is now run by his son Eric, who has also taken over all consultancy work following a prolonged apprenticeship at his father's side. Jacques and Eric have helped to improve the quality of around 180 different properties in the Medoc, including some of the most prestigious estates. In one of Decanter magazine's articles from 2010, it is noted that "if it got the nod in 1855, you can pretty much rest assured that the Boissenots are playing a part in it today".
