Albert Bichot Vire-Clesse 2022
The Viré-Clessé appellation, located between Tournus and Mâcon, is the most recent of the Mâconnais region’s village appellations (1999), exclusively made from Chardonnay grapes. The vineyards, for the most part, are planted on hillsides, where a local type of soil derived from white limestone called “cray” can be found. This delicious Vire-Clesse is from one of Burgundy's finest. Predominant aromas of fine intense fruit, the nose reveals a touch of lemon, mango and subtle floral notes. The palate boasts well balanced structure and beautiful minerality which gives way to a certain touch of sweetness on the finish, giving pleasing length.

"Immediately bright, fresh fruit drives this wine’s lovely intensity and length of flavor. Its lively fresh chamomile and butter cream flavors feel cool and that coolness lasts. Here’s a Mâconnais chardonnay with complexity in its dust up of minerals and its crunch of crusty buttered bread. Delicious."

This wine pairs beautifully with all fish, seafood and white meats in sauce, or strong cheeses.
Serving & Cellaring
Serve between 12°C and 14°C.

About the Producer
Maison Albert Bichot is one of the great names of Burgundy. This family-owned domain was founded in 1831 and now has estates stretching from Chablis in the north to Beaujolais’s Moulin-a-Vent in the south. All their estates and the growers who support them, practice sustainable viticulture. Much of the work is done by horse and hand and all fertilisers are organic. Like many of the top Burgundy domaines, intervention in the winery is kept to an absolute minimum to allow the wines to offer a taste of place.
