Chateau du Moulin Haut-Medoc 2014

Owner Jose Sanfins is also the Director at the 3rd growth Château Cantenac Brown. 100% aged in Oak Barrels, this beautifully complex wine with a velvety finish is made from 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and can be aged for up to 20 years. This wine is a beautiful deep ruby colour. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits. A wine for both the present and the future. "Well-delivered slice of Médoc with clear, dark cassis fruits from an estate in the village of Lamarque, near St-Julien. One to look out for." Decanter

Wine Press Ratings

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2019 Vintage) "The firm tannins are very evident in this structured wine. The black currant fruitiness is beginning to push forward as the wine matures. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits."

91 Points - Decanter (2018 Vintage)

"Another estate (like Chantelune in Margaux) that is owned by José Sanfins, director of Cantenac Brown. Grilled sweet damson and oak notes; this is a smooth, well-delivered slice of Médoc with clear, dark cassis fruits from an estate in the village of Lamarque, near St-Julien. One to look out for."

About the Producer

Situated next to Chasse-Spleen on one of the highest plateaux in the Médoc, the vineyard of Château du Moulin enjoys exceptional sun exposure, thanks to its elevated location, ideal for its iconic windmill. Owner José Sanfins, who also serves as the director of Château Cantenac Brown, benefits from access to advanced winemaking techniques and equipment, leveraging his expertise without risking his limited vines. His close friendship with Eric Boissenot, a renowned winemaker in Lamarque, ensures expert collaboration during harvest, sorting, and winemaking, further enhancing the quality of Château du Moulin's wines.

Taste

This wine is a beautiful deep ruby colour. On the nose we have lots of complexity with a blend of ripe fruits and spiced notes. A harmonious bouquet with both poise and power thanks to precise use of oak. The attack is elegant, but well structured. Ripe tannins are present but not aggressive, and the velvety finish is long and persistent.
