Wine Press Ratings

91 Points - International Wine Report

"The 2019 Haut-Médoc opens to an inviting bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and plums, which are accentuated nuances of graphite, cedar, and a touch of earthy tobacco. On the palate, this delivers a balance of dark fruit flavors and subtle spice, with well-structured tannins. The medium reveals a velvety texture, enhanced by a refreshing acidity adds a sense of freshness. The finish is persistent and refined, with lingering notes of tobacco and spice undertones." Helene Musso is managing director for the Musso properties and comes from a long generation of winemakers and wine lovers. Her father Henri Musso purchased their first property in 1979 from the Rothschild family and the family produced their first wine in 1982. Helene is the youngest of 4 sisters, not only does she oversee the Haut Medoc family property but also the properties in Pauillac, Saint-Estephe, and Moulis. However, she doesn’t do this all on her own this an exemplary family operation in which every member collaborates including all four sisters, their husbands, and even cousins contribute. Apart from winemaking the family rears sheep, horses, and grows a large amount of their own produce on their lands. Their resourcefulness also allows them to run a vine plantation business geared towards many properties on the left bank in need of bottling lines and filtration system services. The Musso family has been working with wine consultant Cedric Morceau for the last 25 years to continuously perfect and regulate the quality of their wines. In addition to consulting to the Musso family, today Cedric also chairs the external organisation that controls and assess the quality and conformity of all Bordeaux AOC wine producers.
