"Burgundy hits the bullseye with 2019" - James Suckling - Most famous for its Pinot Noir, only 10% of the wines from Savigny-Lès-Beaune are made using Chardonnay. This Savigny-Lès-Beaune from the outsanding 2019 Vintage is sourced from the south facing sunny climats of 'Les Planchots' and 'Les Pimentiers'. Hand harvested and fermented using natural yeasts, this is a full bodied wine but without being too heavy with exotic fruits and golden apple, a wine to savour in its youth. A fantastic Burgundy from a great vintage !

About the Producer

Domaine Decelle-Villa was started in 2008 when two distinguished winemakers from other regions of France decided to pool their talents and produce high quality Burgundy wines. Olivier Decelle is the vigneron behind Mas Amiel in Roussillon, and he also revived Château Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion. Pierre-Jean Villa was part of a boutique Rhône negociant, and he is also a Rhone Valley vigneron. Now they have purchased and restored an historic 19th century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges along with about 20 acres of vineyards in various Burgundy locations. They also source grapes from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chassagne-Montrachet for their Domaine Decelle-Villa venture. The domaine makes more than a dozen wines, from a Grand Cru and Premiers Crus to village and regional appellations.

Taste

Winemakers tasting note: Very clear, with good liveliness, the Savigny-Lès-Beaune Blanc offers aromas of exotic fruits and golden apple on a full mouth but not too heavy. It will be drunk fresh, in its youth (before 5 years old) alone or with fine seafood dishes, baked fish or on chicken blanquette.
