Tenute Ca 'Botta Rubicondo Rosso Verona IGT 2022
Produced from vineyards that lie at altitudes of over 500m, the Tenute Ca' Botta Rubicondo Rosso blends freshness with power. Created using a hand-picked mix of traditional Venetian grapes including Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella, this moreish wine is well-structured and delicious. Expert winemaking, including a long, slow fermentation, and ageing in small, 225-litre barrels has created a wine of admirable complexity that’s fit to rank alongside some of Veneto’s best (and far more expensive) red wines.
Vivino Rating: 4.2 (Feb 2025)
Blend: Corvina, Molinara, Rondinella
Tasting Note
With its attractive ruby-red hue and nose of fresh cherries, ground almonds, wildflowers and tobacco, the Tenute Ca' Botta Rubicondo Rosso gets off to an impressive start. Medium-bodied, the palate is densely populated with red and black cherries, wild strawberries, and a touch of rhubarb. Counterpointing the fruit and adding a delicious tension are notes of almond paste, mocha, green herbs and bitter chocolate. The finish is long, rounded and soft, and the tang of cranberries and flowers at the end gives it a delicious lift. Try this with tomato-rich dishes, mushrooms, cheesy pasta or roasted red meats.
