Lungolago di Viandante del Cielo 2020

Lungolago is Viandante del Cielo’s white, a blend of Chardonnay with the native variety of Grechetto, producing a complex white that can evolve in the bottle for years. Named Lungolago, or ‘lakeside’, in honour of the body of water that has so much influence on the life and health of the vines, Lungolago has a delicate nose of white peach and hints of pineapple. A spicy and savoury character with distinctive fennel and peppermint from the Grechetto, the lively acidity and the wet-stones minerality is counterbalanced by the creamy, expansive texture.

Taste

Delicate nose white peach and hints of pineapple. Spicy and savoury character with distinctive fennel and peppermint from Grechetto. Salty and stony. The lively acidity and the wet-stones minerality is counterbalanced by the creamy, expansive texture. Aromatic herbs, a bit of camphor. Long, lingering finish with citrus fruit and liquorice carried by a unique salinity.

Blend: 85% Chardonnay | 15% Grechetto

Ageing: 6 months in French oak 50% new and 50% second use. 8 months in bottle.

About the Producer

In 2007, California-based Skywalker acquired 24 hectares (60 acres) on the northern shore of Umbria's Lake Trasimeno, the first European addition to a portfolio which would be further enriched in 2017 by the addition boutique winery, Château Margüi in Provence, southern France.

The Skywalker team immediately set about converting and restoring Il Convento dei Cappuccini, the 16th-century monastery at the centre of the Viandante del Cielo estate, into a welcoming, elegant ten-bedroom property. Il Convento provides exclusive, impeccable comfort for those seeking the ultimate in pampered relaxation in a setting of magnificent natural beauty, with privileged access to the estate's own wines, extra virgin olive oil and garden produce.

With the collaboration of award-winning enologists Maurizio Castelli and Mery Ferrara, an elegant, unobtrusive and uniquely streamlined cellar was purpose-built to nurture and age the wines of Viandante del Cielo in optimal conditions.

The first vintage was entirely produced in the new facility in 2020, from fruit grown exclusively on the Viandante del Cielo estate using organic methods and which is tended, pruned and harvested by hand in time-proven tradition.
