Eric Forest 1er Cru Les Crays Pouilly-Fuisse 2023

Recently awarded premier cru status "Les Crays” is a terroir of limestone scree on blue Pliensbachian marl. This south-facing slope, bright and protected from the cool north wind, produces fatty wines with chiseled minerality revealing rich and multiple citrus aromas. This cuvée is harvested on several plots planted between 1930 and 1966 forming 2.16 hectares in total.

Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - The Wine Front (2020)

91 Points - Decanter (2020)

"In 2020, there was an uneven ripening in this parcel and Forest waited for physiological ripeness, introducing some very ripe, almost tropical fruit notes on the nose and a note of honey. The barrel ferment and lees aging give a rather substantial feel on the palate as well. Although the wine is exotic, this 2.16-hectare site with vines planted between 1930 – 1966 consistently delivers similar results each year, the mark of a grand terroir." - Charles Curtis MW

About the Producer

Managing the vineyards that have been passed on from father to son for eight generations, Eric produces five exclusive vintages of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Macon-Vergisson on plots of vines planted between 1930 and 1979. Eric's grand father, who possesses a vast knowledge in nature and biodynamics, has greatly influenced his approach to wine making. To maintain the highest level of accuracy, all work is done manually.
