Cignomoro Pepe Nero Primitivo Salento 2024

The Cignomoro Pepe Nero Primitivo Salento is part of the Cignomoro winery's Pepe Nero 'youthful' wine range. Cignomoro is a genuinely boutique winery in the heart of Puglia on Italy's southern Adriatic coast. Produced from the native Primitivo grape, they have managed to capture the grape's exuberance and concentration to produce a mouthfilling, accessible red wine that's equally well-suited to solo sipping or pairing with food.

Taste

Black cherry in colour, the bouquet offers notes of red and black fruits with touches of espresso and toasty vanilla. Soft, rounded and super smooth, the palate is loaded with black cherry, plum and blueberry fruit, which are given added interest by green herbs, earthy spices and a cherry conserve. Powerful and ripe, the rounded tannins and good structure will allow this to develop, but when served with lamb, spicy meatballs, or tomato-based pasta dishes, it's hard to resist its multiple charms now.

About the Producer

Cignomoro is where tradition meets a modern twist. Rooted in Puglia’s ancient vineyards, this bold, expressive producer takes native grapes like Primitivo and Susumaniello and gives them a contemporary edge. Expect intense, fruit-driven wines with serious depth and style – big, characterful reds that pack a punch but never lose their southern Italian soul.
