Chateau Tertre de Viaud 2022

The Chateau Tertre de Viaud 2022 highlights the quality of both the Cotes de Bourg and the 2022 Bordeaux vintage.  Inky purple with a charming pink rim, the nose offers ripe notes of plum, cherry, kirsch, baked earth, spices, and blueberries.  In the mouth, it's medium-bodied with a lovely purity to the bramble, red and black berries, and damson fruit.  Supporting notes of tobacco, green peppers, and flowers make for a mesmering and complete drinking experience.  Bravo!

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. This  delightful Merlot-Cabernet blend is built on centuries of Bordeaux tradition. This prestigious estate, boasting six generations of craftsmanship, offers exceptional value. The Lafons, honouring tradition and utilising modern techniques, produce a stunning wine from the legendary vintage 2022. This medium-bodied red offers a beautiful balance of fruit and acidity. Fresh florals, ripe cherry, and a mineral finish with hints of tobacco create a classic Bordeaux experience, all at a great price point.

Wine Press Ratings

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2022 Vintage)

"A bold, dark chocolate wine with rich tannins, this has spice as well as black plum aromas. It is a generous, rounded wine, ready to age further."

91 Points - International Wine Report (2018)

"The 2018 Château Tertre De Viaud Côtes Du Bourg opens with vivid aromas of red cherries and red currants, which come together with herbs, fresh florals and minerals. Medium-bodied with a lovely texture that grips nicely, leaving behind a mouthful of juicy red fruits lingering. While this may need a bit more time to flesh out, there is certainly potential for this to evolve beautifully over the next few years."

About Chateau Tertre de Viaud

Six generations and nearly 2 centuries of work have gone into building this superb vineyard. Some serious renovation work and investment in the property began in 1974, financed by the Denechaud family and is continued today by their daughter and son-in-law Jérôme Lafon. These 2 young winemakers follow the principles used by their ancestors in 1850 with the help of today’s technology. They have increased their family domaine to over 60 hectares and 3 properties in the Cotes de Blaye and Côtes de Bourg.

Jérôme Lafon is a massively competent winemaker who works in complete discretion. He makes wonderful wines because of his attention to detail in every aspect of the winemaking process. Nothing from vine to bottle is outside of his consideration. He himself proclaims that his wines are made according to the Bordelais traditions and respect their individual terroir. Their investment in new technologies not only encourages improvement in quality but also respects nature.
