Chateau du Moulin Haut-Medoc 2022

Owner Jose Sanfins is also the Director at the 3rd growth Château Cantenac Brown. 100% aged in oak barrels, this beautifully complex wine with a velvety finish is made from 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and can be aged for up to 20 years. This wine is a beautiful deep ruby colour. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits. A wine for both the present and the future. "Well-delivered slice of Médoc with clear, dark cassis fruits from an estate in the village of Lamarque, near St-Julien. One to look out for." Decanter

Wine Press Ratings

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast. (2019 Vintage) "The firm tannins are very evident in this structured wine. The black currant fruitiness is beginning to push forward as the wine matures. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits."

About the Producer

Situated next to Chasse Spleen and on one of the highest plateaux in the Médoc we find the vineyard of Château du Moulin. A moulin – or windmill – must be high in altitude or it is useless so this accounts for the wonderful sun exposure.

Owner José Sanfins just happens to be both director of Château Cantenac Brown as
well as winemaking buddy of Eric Boissenot. His day job allows him to analyse the finest equipment and techniques for his own wines – without the need for experimenting with precious few vines. His friendship means that Eric Boissenot – also a winemaker in Lamarque is often on hand to work with José during harvest, sorting and winemaking periods.

Taste

This wine is a beautiful deep ruby colour. On the nose we have lots of complexity with a blend of ripe fruits and spiced notes. A harmonious bouquet with both poise and power thanks to precise use of oak. The attack is elegant, but well structured. Ripe tannins are present but not aggressive, and the velvety finish is long and persistent.
