Chateau Confidence de Margaux 2016

93 Points - VertdeVin. The 2,5 hectare parcel producing just 10,000 bottles of this confidential wine stand in a mythical triangle of vines surrounded by Château Palmer, Rauzan Segla and Cantenac Brown, just the finest terroir one could hope for in the appellation. "Generous nose showing fruits in brandy, dried fruits and fine oakiness. Warm, expressive attack echoing the nose beautifully. The mid-palate and finish are firmer and bolder in this characterful wine."  The wine is the epitome of the expression of elegance in Margaux. It is not over ripe, over dense or over-oaked. It is balanced, the tannins are enrobed and the finish is warm and long.  If we can learn from the past, it will not be long before one of these properties buys these vines and good value Margaux with a superb story will disappear for ever into the Grands Crus just as Château Boston did when it was purchased by Château Palmer.

Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - VertdeVin (2016 Vintage)

"The nose is fruity and offers a fine power, racy minerality as well as a fine freshness. It reveals notes of blackberry, fleshy wild strawberry and small notes of raspberry associated with touches of spices as well as discreet hints of gray pepper and subtle hints of liquorice. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers juiciness, a beautiful definition, a good material, silkiness, gourmandize as well as a fine juicy frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, fleshy wild strawberry, fleshy raspberry and small notes of ripe/fleshy red berries associated with hints of flowers, gray pepper as well as discreet hints of toasted, chocolate, caramelization and racy minerality. Tannins are well-built."

90 Points - James Suckling (2016 Vintage)

"A silky and delicious red with dark-berry and orange-peel aromas that follow through to a medium body, firm and silky tannins and a delicious finish."
