
Lou Miranda Fierce III Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
The Barossa’s tiny 2020 vintage – yields were 50% lower than the ten-year average – tested the winemaking mettle of all producers. The Lou Miranda team routinely take a fanatical approach to vineyard care, but in 2020 daily assessments were undertaken to ensure grapes were picked at the optimum moment. This turned out to be up to three weeks earlier than usual. The tiny harvest was sorted, pressed and fermented in stainless steel for nine days. The team watched fermentation like Goshawks to ensure these super-concentrated grapes balanced power with complexity. The finished wines were aged in American oak for 26 months and have been universally acclaimed, being fit to rank with the finest Cabernets this historic estate has ever produced.

Taste
Hugely impressive from the off, the Lou Miranda Estate Fierce III Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep, blue-black hue with a purple rim. The striking bouquet offers masses of blackcurrants, red berries, oriental spices, toast and eucalyptus. On the palate, it shows power with restraint. The firm structure is overlain by sweetly toned black berries, cassis and black cherries combined with savoury notes of olives, charcoal, mint, and pepper to create a sensational mouthful. Drink now with red meats, full-flavoured cheeses or rich tomato dishes or age over the coming decade.

Lou Miranda is a family-owned boutique producer located in the heart of Australia’s famed Barossa Valley.
