Bodegas Lopez-Alonso Crudabendita Gran Reserva 2018

93 Points- Wine Enthusiast. The Crudabendita Gran Reserva is one of Ribera del Duero’s increasingly rare finds — a wine of serious structure and provenance that still offers exceptional value. With prices in the region climbing steadily, driven by both rising demand and standout vintages like 2018, this is a welcome reminder that quality and accessibility can still go hand in hand.

Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

"Right from the start, energetic fruit bursts from the glass offering an enticing nose that is just shy of opulent. On the palate, an unexpectedly alluring note of red licorice is met with formidable tannins–to the extent that this bottle seems destined for the cellar, at least for the moment."

Taste

Aged for 38 months in French and American oak, followed by two years in bottle, this is a deeply structured, classically styled Ribera. Blackberry, cherry and dark plum fruit are framed by polished tannins and fresh acidity, with layers of wood spice, tobacco and graphite unfolding in the glass. Powerful but poised, it benefits from decanting and pairs beautifully with aged cheeses or rich, savoury dishes.

About the Producer

Cruda Bendita is a modern voice in Ribera del Duero — a bodega that respects tradition but embraces innovation where it matters. Precision is the guiding principle here, from hand-harvesting in the early morning to optical sorting that ensures only the best berries make it into the fermenters. Based on clay-calcareous soils, their vineyards yield fruit with natural structure and freshness, while extended ageing in French and American oak brings depth and complexity. The result? Wines that are powerful but not overblown, polished yet characterful — and increasingly recognised as some of Ribera’s best-kept secrets.
