Chateau Chantelune Margaux 2007
Château Chantelune 2007 sits on the highest hill in Margaux and is a truly distinctive, small-production estate, producing just 400 cases. Now fully mature and drinking beautifully, the wine shows rounded tannins and a warm, polished Margaux character. Elegant Merlot brings balance to the Cabernet, giving poise, softness and length. A genuine jewel in The Perfect Cellar collection.
About the Producer
This unique chateau and parcel of vines have all of the qualities necessary to produce fine wines. The deep gravel soils and heavy clay subsoils are capable of producing good drainage in a wet vintage and holding in moisture during a heatwave. Chantelune is quite simply a wine that represents all that is wonderful about the Margaux appellation. Everything from its miniscule size which allows every vine to be tended to and given the attention it deserves to the plantation of the best vines for the soil types means that maturity and quality of the fruit are top of the property’s concerns. Chateau Chantelune is therefore a wine which is full bodied and round on the palate but that offers also the tender side of the appellation. The rounded tannins add a sexy backbone that leaves a wonderfully warm pleasing feeling on the palate that persists until you can’t help yourself but to go back for more. The elegant Merlot gives the wine balance and perfectly complements the Cabernet.
Jose Sanfins is a world renowned wine maker who is enormously talented and profoundly kind. He has recently finished the renovation work on the winery which makes Chateau Chantelune perfectly reflect his character : efficient, attentive and welcoming! Mr Sanfins produces Chateau Chantelune in every spare minute he has. He also has a day job which he does not want to link to his own property as he firmly believes that the “confidentiality” and quality of his product will speak for themselves. Lets just say he knows a little bit about what it is to make some of the finest wine in Bordeaux without saying that this is what he does during the day or in his leisure time.
