Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - James Suckling (2022 Vintage)

Notes of dried cherries, dried flowers and a lush red fruit core. Super refined on the palate, with an almost full body, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a long, toasted finish. Still austere now, but it doesn’t come across as over-extracted. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

Taste
Brilliant, deep ruby-red in colour, the 2022 Cava d'Onice Rosso di Montalcino offers a complex bouquet marked by ripe plum and blueberry, accompanied by hints of mineral and balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is vibrant with firm but well-blended tannins and a pleasing, balanced acidity. A core of red ripe fruit persists through to a lengthy, satisfying finish, beautifully showcasing the fresh and lively character typical of young Sangiovese.

Producer
