Settlement Ashmore Vineyard Riesling 2021
94 Points - Cameron Douglas, MS. A beautiful Mosel like Riesling from a producer who carefully select fruit from Marlborough's top organic single vineyards to produce wines of great elegance and complexity. Expect aromas of lemon, gala apple, Roses lime juice and a hint of manuka honey. A compelling, finely balanced wine with impressive concentration and texture, delicate, tangy acidity and a fine, lingering finish.

94 Points - Cameron Douglas, MS (2021 Vintage)
"Fragrant, floral light white spices, lime and lemon fruits white apricot and a stony mineral complexity. On the palate a dry wine with an immediate intensity of citrus and apple flavours, high acidity adds a thirst quenching quality, then a wet pebble mineral flavours showcases depth and breadth. Balanced, well made, youthful and lively. A wine to drink from day of purchase through 2033."
Taste
Strongly varietal showing lifted aromas and flavours of ripe citrus and fresh white peach. Great balance where the sweetness level shows but the effect is one of a tangy dryish finish. Looking very youthful at this stage and from the delicacy of the palate is showing the potential to develop positively for many years.
About the Producer
Owner, Steve Planthaber, grew up in the Barossa Valley, surrounded by vineyards and the wine industry from a young age. On leaving school he found his way to the deep south of New Zealand to study chemistry and work for some of New Zealand’s largest companies in a variety of roles. A move to Marlborough with his partner Kirsty Sutherland cemented his love of wine, and after 12 enjoyable years working for Cloudy Bay Vineyards in production and operations, he decided to use his diverse skills and experience to relish the opportunity to form his own wine brand, Settlement.
At Settlement, they carefully select fruit from Marlborough's top organic single vineyards to craft four wines - Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir. These wines, sourced from renowned sites in the Wairau and Southern Valley, benefit from the region's organic farming practices. With minimal intervention in the winery, the purity of the fruit is preserved, resulting in elegant, complex wines.
