Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - The Champagne Sommelier

"The aroma is mineral, refined, and lively, displaying a subtle finesse in its texture and a delicate underlying strength. It unveils nuances of fresh lemon, zesty citrus, and subtle hints of green apple, intertwined with notes of limestone, crisp lime, and distant undertones of lychee and exotic fruits. There are also discreet touches of elderflowers and lemon flower, complemented by toasted almond and an almost imperceptible hint of vanilla. The palate is fruity, impeccably balanced, vibrant, and well-structured, offering precise definition, exquisite texture, elegance, a mineral backdrop, a touch of straightness, ample volume, and a refined touch, all underscored by beautiful precision. The effervescence is fine and graceful. On the palate, this Champagne unfolds notes of ripe/fresh lemon, crisp green apple, and subtle hints of lychee/quince, harmonized with delicate nuances of elderberry flowers and fleshy quince. Subtle hints of orange blossom, brioche, and a discreet almond note grace the finish, leaving a lasting and nuanced persistence."

Tasting Notes

The nose is dense on a universe of pastries. Then comes the expression of maturity with notes of candied fruits (pineapple and yellow fruits) and smoky nuances of fresh peat, tea, dark rum and tobacco. The palate displays a beautiful energy with a wide aromatic palate. The maturity is there with bergamot tea and a spicy-fruity dimension on candied citrus fruits (cinnamon, clove, orange, yellow lemon).

About the Producer

“Manufacteurs de Grands Crus”. Michel Genet like to call themselves “manufacteurs” (“artisans”) from the word’s Latin origins in manu-factum = made by hand as they are personally involved in every stage of creating their Champagnes. Antoine, Vincent et Agnès Genet take an artisan approach to managing their family-run Champagne House, which bears the name of their father, Michel Genet. All three advocate taking the most natural approach to viticulture and vinification possible, and their process is highly selective (vine parcel supervision, organic (AB) amendments, sustainable pest control), qualitative (with approved quality standards for the entire winery) and reliable (independent, stringent and reactive).
