Domaine de la Croisee Magma Pouilly-Fume 2023
17/20 - Jancis Robinson. The great Sauvignon Blancs from Pouilly-Fumé are known (much like their neighbours in Sancerre, Menetou-Salon and Quincy) for their complex minerality and the richness of facets that their respective micro-terroir brings with them. The Domaine de la Croisee Magma Pouilly-Fume's bouquet offers scents of white fruits, chamomile, and freshly mown grass. Creamy on the palate, with ripe mango and pineapple flavours. The spicy mineral finish presents a fascinating contrast to the buttery texture. A full-bodied, somewhat restrained Pouilly-Fumé that distinctly sets itself apart from the robust, often bold Sauvignons of the New World. While wine prices on the Loire are skyrocketing in many places, this first-class Pouilly-Fumé from the young Domaine de la Croisée stands out as one to follow for its quality and value.
Wine Press Ratings
17/20 - Jancis Robinson (2023 Vintage)
"A superbly silky Pouilly-Fumé with fluid palate weight –full-bodied and with real richness but at the same time lithe and fresh. Aromatic (on the palate as well as the nose) with floral notes of linden blossom and lemon verbena, and an intensely peppery finish. Long and sweeping.”
About Domaine de la Croisée
Domaine de la Croisée is a new and exciting venture for Nolwenn and Matthieu, two lovers of wine, vineyards & nature. Meeting in the aisles of a wine fair, in 2019, an opportunity arose to acquire a small 8.5-hectare winery right in the heart of the AOC Pouilly Fumé terroir. Without hesitation, Nolwenn and Matthieu rolled up their sleeves to restore this charming plot of land that had been neglected for a long time.
