Lou Miranda Fierce III Shiraz 2022

94 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit. Hailing from the outstanding 2022 Barossa Valley vintage, the Lou Miranda Estate Fierce III Shiraz is an outstanding example of super-premium Australian Shiraz. Grown on the family’s vineyards at Rowland Flat and Lyndoch in the southern Barossa Valley on single wire trellises, the grapes ripened to perfection, harmoniously balancing fruit, tannin, and acidity. Following a careful fermentation with regular pumping over to maximise extraction, it was matured in American oak for two and half years which added further structure and extended the flavour profile even further. The result is an exquisite fine wine that will age beautifully.

Wine Press Ratings

94 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2022 Vintage)

"This is richly fruited with spicy nuances, showing blackberry, dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove, and toasty oak characters. The palate is equally satisfying, with excellent weight and generous mouthfeel, well supported by silky texture and fine tannins, and finishing delectable and lingering."

93 Points - Ken Garrett (2022 Vintage)

"The colour here is an inky dark purple. The nose is redolent with big, bold black cherries, supported by truffles, dried herbs, bay leaves, mulberries, soy, aniseed, blackberries and a hint of graphite. The oak is well handled and there is serious length to this wine, with juicy acidity, good concentration and fine tannins. A joy for the next eight years.  "

Taste

The Lou Miranda Estate Fierce III Shiraz offers that classic combination of fruitiness and savouriness that is the hallmark of a great Australian Shiraz. Inky blue-black, aromas of cassis, prunes, mint, raspberries and Asian spices leap from the glass. The full-bodied palate offers a wide array of flavours and textures. Blackberries, black cherries, plums, spicy vanilla and balsamic mingle with dark chocolate and cloves with a subtle dried herb character. The finish is firm, long, smoky and nuanced, with a fresh coming in at the finale. Drink now with fine red meats, mushrooms, or powerful cheeses, or cellar for a decade.
