DAOU Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

95 Points - James Suckling. A serious, high-altitude Cabernet that shows Paso Robles at its most refined. Pure blackcurrant and cassis at the core, layered with graphite, dark chocolate and subtle cedar oak. Concentrated yet controlled, with finely worked tannins and a cool line of acidity giving shape and length. Poised, precise and clearly built for the long haul, but already showing real class.

Taste

Deep ruby in the glass. Focused aromas of cassis and black cherry, edged with graphite, cocoa and well-judged oak. The palate is dense yet composed, delivering ripe dark fruit, savoury spice and a touch of cedar. Fine, chalky tannins frame the wine, while fresh acidity keeps it lifted and precise. Long, controlled finish with clear ageing potential.

Wine Press Ratings

95 Points - James Suckling (2022 Vintage)

"Fruit- and spice-driven, with aromas of blackberry compote, cigar box, cloves and violets. The palate is full-bodied with seamless tannins and integrated acidity, showing notes of blood plums, blueberries and graphite."

94 Points - Robert Parker (2022 Vintage)

"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a barrel sample of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Petit Verdot maturing for 16 months in 50% new French oak and is due to be bottled in the spring of 2024. The nose offers wild berry fruit streaked with graphite and nuances of truffle, forest floor and oak spices. The full-bodied palate is highly concentrated and floral, with approachable, clay-textured tannins, satisfying bursts of acidity and a long, perfumed finish."
